Who We Are
The Wild Rose Figure Skating Club, formed in 1995 in Calgary, Alberta, has served the community and provided learn-to-skate and figure skating programs to children of all ages.
The Wild Rose Figure Skating Club, sanctioned by Skate Canada operates with a group of parent volunteers who plan and administer a variety of skating programs. Instruction and coaching is led by NCCP certified Skate Canada coaches.
Wild Rose offers the Canskate program, the official Skate Canada learn-to-skate program for children as young as three years of age. The fundamentals of skating are taught by professional Skate Canada coaches in preparation for hockey, ringette and figure skating. There are seven fundamental stages of Canskate and in 2010, Wild Rose FSC was nominated as one of the top twenty Canskate Programs in Canada.
In addition to Canskate, Wild Rose FSC offers a comprehensive figure skating program through two main programs:
1) Preliminary Preparation – Offered as an introductory to figure skating and are primarily skaters that have completed or near completion the Canskate program.
2) Starskate/Competitive Program – Skaters in this program work towards completion of various Skate Canada tests for dance, skills and free skate. These skaters also compete against other club skaters in competitions throughout Alberta.
