CanSkate is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program designed for beginners of all ages. Badges and other incentives are awarded as skaters learn the fundamental movements and skating skills that are a vital part of any ice sport. No matter what skating avenue you choose to pursue (figure skating, hockey, ringette, or pleasure skating) learning to skate with excellence ensures a successful start.
The CanSkate program is a recreational program where skaters work through skill levels badges from Stage 1 through Stage 7. This is done at their own pace in group lessons. NCCP certified Professional Coaches, along with Skate Canada certified Program Assistants, work with skaters as they develop and learn the principles of speed, challenge, performance and agility. A report card provides an individual track of skills attained.
The CanSkate Professional Coach prepares fun, challenging and safe lessons for the appropriate age level. Activities such as circuits, drills, exercises, and reviews keep the skater moving. The coaching philosophy at the Wild Rose FSC is to ensure that each skater reaches their own personal goals while keeping the fun and enthusiasm of the sport in focus.
